Why go

The temple itself runs both markets in its precinct, so one visit can combine temple sightseeing with a flea market. Two different markets are held on consecutive Sundays: the Recycle Market (a flea market) on the 2nd Sunday and Gozare-ichi (a “garakuta”, or odds-and-ends market) on the 3rd Sunday.

What you can buy

The official pages do not list the goods. The names suggest second-hand goods and odds and ends, but what is actually on sale is not published, so this site does not describe it.

Budget

Admission and prices are not stated officially (TBC). Please check on site.

Access

The temple is at 733 Takahata, Hino City, 5 minutes on foot from Takahata-Fudo Station on the Keio Line and the Tama Monorail. See the spot page for a map and the weather forecast.

Practical information

  • Rain: the Recycle Market is cancelled in rain. For Gozare-ichi the official pages do not say.
  • New Year period: the temple has announced that some events are suspended over the New Year period (from the end of Reiwa 8 into Reiwa 9). The list of suspended events is given in an image, so January 2027 is shown as “TBC”.
  • Cash, card, English, haggling: not stated officially. This site does not guess.

Nearby

The temple is the destination itself. Other markets in Hino City and elsewhere in Tokyo are on the Tokyo area page, and a rule-by-rule list is in Tokyo’s monthly markets by calendar rule.
